The 2024 Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Tourism Festival presents the “Rising Tides of the Maritime Silk Road – Fuzhou Impressions” International Cultural and Artistic Exchange Week, featuring the Maritime Silk Road Trendy Market Series from December 6 to 15 in Fuzhou. The event showcases four themed markets: the Intangible Cultural Heritage & Internet-Famous Food Market, the Maritime Silk Road Retro-Style Market, the China-US Vintage Culture Market, and the Traditional Chinese Culture & Trendy Literature Market. These markets have drawn massive crowds, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage & Internet-Famous Food Market, located at the Yong Chun Culture Exhibition Center (No. 14, Gong Alley, Sanfang Qixiang), has drawn massive crowds eager to sample authentic Fuzhou cuisine. Stalls offering Erlongbo Yuanxiao and Tongli Pork Wonton have been especially popular. Visitors can not only indulge in traditional Fuzhou delicacies but also take part in hands-on intangible cultural heritage food-making activities, immersing themselves in Fuzhou’s rich culinary traditions. Additionally, the inclusion of cuisines from countries along the Maritime Silk Road provides a unique opportunity for guests to experience the fusion of diverse culinary cultures.

At the Maritime Silk Road Retro-Style Market, located at the Maritime Silk Road International Tourism Center, visitors can explore and purchase unique handicrafts and delicacies from countries along the Maritime Silk Road, as well as participate in hands-on workshops such as ceramic art and oil-paper umbrella-making. The market’s stalls, adorned with oceanic motifs and exotic flair, offer an immersive cultural journey that captivates all who visit.

At the China-U.S. Vintage Culture Market, held at the Public Service Community of Nations in Kuliang Tourist Resort, traditional Fuzhou lacquerware, and Shoushan stone carvings—both recognized as part of China’s intangible cultural heritage—were showcased alongside handcrafted leather goods and vintage accessories from the United States, creating a harmonious blend of cultures. Adding to the market’s charm, a folk music flash mob performance enlivened the atmosphere, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rich cultural exchange and dialogue between the two nations.

The Traditional Chinese Culture & Trendy Literature Market, located in the Shangxiahang Historical and Cultural District, masterfully blends ancient aesthetics with modern trends, highlighting the charm of trendy Chinese-style accessories and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts. In the traditional craft demonstration area, visitors had the chance to try their hand at porcelain flower-making and mud painting, immersing themselves in the rich legacy of Chinese history and culture.
