As a major marine county in China and the World’s Fishing Capital, how can Lianjiang promote the high-quality development of the marine economy and contribute to the building of a higher-level “Maritime Fuzhou” through the integration of the “four chains”? The answer was unveiled at the Four Chains Integration Supply and Demand Matchmaking Conference for the Deep Processing of Aquatic Products in Lianjiang County on February 26, hosted by the Fujian Province Industrial Enterprise Supply and Demand Platform.
Lianjiang, born from the sea and thriving because of it, is actively developing new quality productive forces of marine economy. With the goal of building a “major marine county,” Lianjiang achieved a total aquatic product output of 1.3368 million tons in 2024, maintaining its position as the second-highest among counties for over 40 years, and ranked first in fishery output value among counties in China for five consecutive years. The county is dedicated to developing a holistic marine economic industrial chain, covering areas such as seed cultivation, ecological breeding, deep-sea fishing, and coastal tourism. By integrating 108 aquatic product deep processing enterprises and establishing an industry alliance, Lianjiang is working to expand the reach of its specialties across China and around the world.
With a focus on the ocean and the marine economy, Lianjiang seized the opportunity at this conference to drive development through the integration of the “four chains,” with comprehensive planning and progress. It aims to turn its marine advantages into development strengths, further expand the “blue granary,” and promote Lianjiang’s seafood products nationwide, earning widespread recognition.
Partnering with universities to establish a new model of in-depth industry-university-research integration -- Lianjiang County has signed a cooperation agreement with Fuzhou University. The two parties will work together in areas such as talent training and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, focusing on advancing scientific and technological innovation in cutting-edge fields like new chemical materials, renewable energy, biomedicine, and marine science. The goal is to transform more laboratory results into tangible production benefits.
Connecting supply and demand to drive production expansion and enhance quality and efficiency -- More than 10 enterprises from Lianjiang signed agreements on stage. A total of 10 supply-demand matching projects were signed, totaling 596 million yuan. These projects aim to develop high-value products such as ready-to-eat seafood, pre-made dishes, and functional marine bio-products, promoting Lianjiang’s to shift its focus from “big seafood” to “big food” and “big health,” and from “traditional processing” to “future factory.”
Injecting financial vitality, and exploring new financial instruments to empower the “World’s Fishing Capital” -- Entities like Fujian Lianjiang Rural Commercial Bank, Industrial Bank’s Fuzhou Lianjiang Sub-branch, and ICBC’s Lianjiang Sub-branch entered into credit agreements with enterprises in Lianjiang. After several rounds of signing, 11 credit projects were finalized, continuously injecting financial vitality into enterprises for technological upgrades, production expansion, and efficiency improvement, thereby boosting their core competitiveness.
“Currently, we are leading industrial upgrades through the innovation chain, aggregating development momentum via the industrial chain, stimulating market vitality with the capital chain, and reinforcing intellectual support through the talent chain. Lianjiang will support all parties with the utmost sincerity, best resources, and optimal services, and work together with them for a win-win blue future,” stated Gao Shuangcheng, Secretary of the CPC Lianjiang County Committee. Going forward, Lianjiang will leverage its advantageous industries, such as the deep processing of aquatic products, to further deepen the integration of the “four chains,” and take measures like cultivating factor markets, strengthening investment attraction, and building service platforms to foster a high-quality industrial cluster, establish a new development pattern for the aquatic product deep processing industry, improve the “Hailianjiang” regional public brand system, continuously strength the county’s identity as the “World’s Fishing Capital,” and promote the high-quality development of the marine economy, so as to make new, greater contributions to the construction of a “Major Marine Province” and “Maritime Fuzhou.” (Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Lin Wenjing, Correspondents: Ye Jianlong, Chen Hanlin)
