Food is not only the soul of a city but also an important carrier of cultural heritage. In November 2023, the General Office of the Fujian Provincial Government launched the “One County, One Table of Dishes” initiative, encouraging cities and districts to develop distinctive series of local dishes.
Minhou, often known as the “First Capital of Fujian,” boasts a rich history, abundant resources, and deep-rooted food culture. The “One County, One Table of Dishes” initiative in Minhou County is also called “Shouyi Feast.” These dishes are carefully made using local ingredients from Minhou County, blending traditional Fujian culinary techniques with modern cooking methods to create a feast that uniquely showcases the local flavors.
The first batch of recognized dishes for the “Shouyi Feast” includes 15 famous dishes passed down through generations from various towns, such as Hot & Sour Fish Snout and Mussel Soup, Shanggan Tofu with Oyster and Crab, and Xiangqian Stir-Fried Flowering Chives and Tylorrhynchus. It also features 15 classic snacks, including Mussel Layered Cake, Shangjie Fried Marinated Eel, and Jingxi Thin Noodles. Each dish reflects the local customs and tells a unique historical story, allowing diners to enjoy the food and appreciate the charm of Fujian cuisine culture.
To provide more locals and tourists with the chance to enjoy the delicious “Shouyi Feast,” renowned restaurants and hotels in Minhou County will collaborate with platforms like Meituan to offer classic “Shouyi Feast” set menus. In the future, the “Shouyi Feast” will be widely promoted at major hotels and local banquets across Minhou. (Fuzhou Daily Reporter: Tan Xiangzhu)
