After 31 successful sessions, the China Chefs Festival has become an important platform that shows the development achievements of the industry, displays the new catering highlights of the host city, promotes industrial exchanges and mutual learning, carries forward excellent Chinese catering culture, and drives local economic growth. Therefore, it is known as “China Chefs Summit” and “the Canton Fair in the catering industry”.

As one of the series activities of 2023 Galaxy Chinese Cuisines held by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Chefs Festival this year is vigorously supported by the Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce. With the theme of “Innovation, Inheritance, Prosperity and Delicacies”, nearly 20 special events were carried out, including exhibitions, forums, competitions, appreciation and communication, visits and investigation. In this way, a bridge has been built in the whole catering industrial chain, which condensed the wisdom and strengths of catering practitioners, and given out the biggest voice of the Chinese catering industry.

This session of the China Chefs Festival was held in Fuzhou because Fuzhou has a history of more than 2,000 years, profound cultural deposits, and cooking culture traditions. The Fujian cuisine, which originated from Fuzhou, dates back to the Qin and Han dynasties. It experienced the cultural integration of Central Plains, Fujian and Zhejiang. Afterward, on the basis of Fuzhou cuisine, it was formed by blending the flavor dishes of eastern, southern, western and northern Fujian, and Putian.

Nowadays, Fujian cuisine has become an important part of Fuzhou culture. It has deposited the culture, history, territory and folk customs of Fujian for millennia, and improved people’s understanding of the city gradually and silently.

With the wise guidance and vigorous support of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Fujian Provincial Government, Fuzhou Municipal Party Committees and Fuzhou Municipal Governments have always shouldered the responsibility of inheriting the cooking skills of Fujian cuisine and promoting Fujian cuisine culture. A range of policies, measures and industrial plans have been rolled out to fully support the inheritance of skills, export products, and expand markets. Fuzhou actively supported the high-quality development of prefabricated dishes and enhanced the whole industrial chain of Fujian cuisine. On this basis, Fuzhou built China’s first Fujian Cuisine Culture Museum, and is actively bidding for the “City of Gastronomy” to UNESCO.

Hosted in Fuzhou, this session of the China Chefs Festival has built a platform for exchanges and mutual learning of catering culture, which will benefit Fuzhou for building the “City of Gastronomy” and promoting “Fuzhou culture” brands such as Mincai Fuyan.
